Our Family Table

COOKBOOK
Procreate, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign
An editorial keepsake preserving the recipes and stories passed down through generations.

01 / BRIEF
Create a cookbook that preserves family recipes, stories, and traditions through a cohesive editorial design.
The goal was to transform a collection of recipes into a meaningful keepsake that documents the people, memories, and traditions that make my family feel like ours.
02 / PROBLEM
How can a cookbook preserve the stories behind family recipes, not just the instructions?
The challenge was to balance the functionality of a cookbook with the intimacy of family memories, creating something useful in the kitchen while preserving the traditions behind each dish.

03 / INSIGHT
Growing up, you don’t always notice the importance of family traditions because you know no different. It wasn’t until my siblings moved out, and eventually I did too, that I realized how special those traditions are—the little touches that make your family feel like yours.
At the foundation of those traditions is love. Recipes, familiar quotes, photographs, and shared memories are the pieces that grow from it, representing generations of people who chose to love, care for, and serve one another.
04 / DESIGN INTENT
Approach the cookbook through my own lens of the family I grew up in, creating an editorial experience rooted in our memories and traditions.
The palette draws directly from those memories: warm brown reflects the natural wood tones of the table we gathered around, orange recalls the fall leaves of family Thanksgivings, and green represents the life we celebrated together. Meaningful photography, family quotes, and inviting layouts bring those memories into the design.

05 / OUTCOME
The result is a family cookbook that functions as both a practical collection of recipes and a keepsake of the love and traditions that shaped my family.
By gathering recipes, stories, photos, and pieces of love from every direction of my family, the cookbook preserves those traditions while giving generations to come something to continue building upon.
